The best Y around Boston. A basketball court, a free weights room, group exercise classrooms, a swimming pool. And a bunch of kids related programs.

The old North End will be gone soon now that the highway is gone. all the old school italians will leave and the place will be gentrified and touridt friendly soon. If you still want to see it how it is/was, go soon.
PS. Bova's has better pastries. And its open 24hrs.

Bull & Finch was renamed to Cheers. It was the inspiration behind Cheers bar, but wasn't actually used in the show. In real life the food is pretty crap and the place is dirty. They have absolutely no incentive to make it not suck. If you like trashy souvenirs though then don't miss Cheers.

The Pizza Regina.
The best pizza in the world, and I have traveled the world several times around.
We first had pizza at the Regina back in 1950 when the pizza was 30 cents and a soda was 5 cents. It was great then and marvelous again in 1994 when I returned from more pizza. The price had risen, but the quality and ambiance are still there.
Pizza Regina is my "benchmark" for pizza around the world, and some came close, but none matched.
It's 2007 and I hope to return this month (July) for one more time.

For the area, for long stays, this is *one of* the cheapest.
It's *right* next to Bukowski's - a small red-fronted pub.

More precisely, this is the Bates Elementary School - there are roughly a half dozen public schools within the Roslindale section of Boston (the Sumner can be seen just east of Roslindale Square).
