In late January '07, the city (DCR?) finally tore this structure down. See pinebank.org for pictures and commentary.
  • Wally's Jazz, kz1000ps (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Wally's is the place to be.. lots of Berklee (not Berkeley) students consider this place to be THE place to play before they leave Boston, so that they can say "yeah, I cut my teeth at Wally's."
  • Auditorium Parking Garage, kz1000ps (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
wrong location.. this is an 8 story parking garage
  • Mini Suspension Bridge, Ryan (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Smallest suspension bridge in the world. no joke. Zakim is the widest.
  • Central Square, Brain wrote 18 years ago:
This conveniently located public space is the heart of the East Boston neighborhood. Unfortunately, this former hub for streetcars in the area is asphalt dedicated to parking and traffic. One could hope that future development might hold an expansion of the green space or at least a change in some of the pavement.
  • Liberty Plaza, Brain wrote 18 years ago:
This low-slung development that directly abuts the harbor is subject to fervent speculation over redevelopment plans for adjacent parcels. The opportunity exists to increase the potential of this site (housing, public space, and access to the waterfront) and the adjacent sites while maintaining the vital retail functions.
  • Maverick Gardens, Brain wrote 18 years ago:
The new development certainly offers a improvement in terms of architectural vocabulary and urban structure. However, a large number of affordable units were lost and the public spaces are overly "defensive."

Also on the historic Freedon trail (http://www.thefreedomtrail.org/) and home of the Old North Church and the Paul Revere house. Much of the Italian influence has dissipated as this in-town neighborhood has becomre before more attractive to young professionals. Still, the summer festivals are not to be missed. Also home to the most ardent football (ie: soccer) fans in North America. Best cappuccino: Cafe Graffiti Best traditional Italian food: Il Pannino Best pastries: The Modern Bakery (Mikes ? Pleeeze!)
